We’re going on vacation
Preparation is stagnation
We are forgetting everything
Getting ready is a big thing
Mom’s still packing bags at dawn
Dad just yawned and put the wrong shoes on
The dog’s confused, the kids are wild
This whole house is a circus child
Suitcases open, socks on the floor
Can’t find the charger, search some more
We’re chasing time, but we’re behind
Still, Florida’s got us in a sunshine mind
Florida vacation is our yearly inspiration
But driving straight ten hours
Is not the thing of ours
Snacks and songs and bathroom stops
Every hour, the chaos pops
But we laugh and we survive
On this Florida chaos drive
Forgot the sunscreen, left the map
GPS froze, the tire went flat
The playlist’s stuck on disco funk
Someone’s juice just spilled in the trunk
Kids ask “Are we there yet?” ten times
We’re losing count of state line signs
But it’s all part of the ride
With palm trees waiting on the other side
Florida vacation is our yearly inspiration
But driving straight ten hours
Is not the thing of ours
Snacks and songs and bathroom stops
Every hour, the chaos pops
But we laugh and we survive
On this Florida chaos drive
Somewhere between the rest stop fries
And midnight games of I Spy
We find the joy in messy scenes
Of road-trip dreams and gasoline
Florida vacation is our yearly inspiration
But driving straight ten hours
Is not the thing of ours
Snacks and songs and bathroom stops
Every hour, the chaos pops
Still we laugh and we arrive
On this Florida chaos drive
We made it there, not sure how
But we’d do it all again somehow
Florida chaos, memories alive
On this wild and wondrous drive
